Road Aid Safety

Road Aid has developed and piloted a system where people can inform vehicles on a particular stretch of the highway of a stranded vehicle and/or of animals straying on the road that could lead to an accident. Alerted by such a message, speeding vehicles can slow down while approaching that section of the highway and be careful. Dangerous spots, also known as Black Spots have been mapped and the information can be relayed in real time to vehicles on that stretch on their mobiles.

We are now in advanced stage of development of a tool that would automatically detect vehicle crashes and send emergency notifications along with the location to the Road Aid help center as well as the user's pre-selected emergency contacts. The other feature of the app would be to record the speed levels of the vehicle and incase the vehicle exceeds the speed limits set by the authorities, it sends a speed break alert to pre-defined contacts that can be the area police who can take action against the erring driver without the use of speed guns and manpower. The police need not be on the highway at all. This would be useful round the clock. This feature is useful as it would be running in the background in the phone 24hrs of the day.

We have developed a software program by which our control room can pinpoint the location of an accident site on a map down to the nearest meters. Thus, when an alert comes in, hospitals, ambulance services, highway patrol, towing vehicles and the police would be informed based on the necessity of the situation.
